Mariska Hargitay to host 78th Primetime Emmy Awards

Mariska Hargitay is set to host the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday, September 14, at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. Hargitay described the hosting role as a “loose new experience” that allows her to step outside her established career lane as an actor.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, three-time Emmy host Jimmy Kimmel offered advice to Hargitay, emphasizing the importance of correctly pronouncing nominees' names. Hargitay practiced with various names, including Ayo Edebiri, Lucia Aniello, and Rhea Seehorn.

Producers noted that Hargitay’s personality has influenced the ceremony's energy. Executive producer Dionne Harmon stated the show is a representation of Hargitay’s spirit, while other producers highlighted her desire to create an inclusive atmosphere for both the live audience and those watching at home.
