Mariska Hargitay wins two Emmys for documentary ‘My Mom Jayne’

Mariska Hargitay won two Emmy Awards at the 78th Creative Arts Emmys for her directorial debut, the HBO documentary ‘My Mom Jayne: A Film by Mariska Hargitay’. The film, which explores the life of her mother, Hollywood icon Jayne Mansfield, earned honors for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special and Outstanding Directing for a Documentary/Nonfiction Program.

During her acceptance speeches, Hargitay paid tribute to the late feminist icon Gloria Steinem, quoting her advice to ‘Please tell your own story.’ Hargitay noted that the filmmaking process allowed her to personally discover her mother, whom she lost in a car accident when she was three years old.

The early Emmy ceremonies also saw significant wins for other productions. Bad Bunny earned his first Emmy for his Super Bowl halftime show, winning in the outstanding variety special category. Other notable early winners included ‘Widow’s Bay’, which secured eight awards, and ‘The Pitt’, which earned four. The main Primetime Emmy ceremony is scheduled to be hosted by Hargitay on September 14.
