Marisol Saavedra Chungara arrested in Bolivia after Argentine expulsion
Bolivian authorities have arrested Marisol Saavedra Chungara, known as ‘La Reina del Sur’, at Viru Viru International Airport. Saavedra was extradited from Argentina, where she had completed an eight-year prison sentence for aggravated drug trafficking. She now faces judicial proceedings in Yacuiba, Bolivia, for controlled substance trafficking.
In Chile, law enforcement agencies have conducted separate successful anti-drug operations. Carabineros used a detector dog named ‘Coky’ to intercept over 4 kilograms of cocaine paste on an interurban bus traveling along Route 5 North. The operation resulted in the arrest of a Bolivian national and the seizure of approximately $56,000 in cash.
Additionally, the PDI dismantled a drug distribution network operating in the Maipú and Recoleta communes. Following a surveillance operation, detectives discovered cannabis hidden in a taxi's spare tire and later seized over 5.5 kilograms of cannabis sativa at a residence in Recoleta. Four individuals, including one Chilean woman and three Peruvian men, were detained.
