Marist women win team title at season opener cross country meet

The 2026 cross country season commenced at the Marist Season Opener held at the Vassar Farm and Ecological Preserve.

The Marist women's team secured the team title with 33 points, placing five runners in the top 10. Graduate student Emily Litke led the Red Foxes with a second-place finish in the 6-kilometer race (18:29.9). Freshmen Helena Szep and Sofi Bane also performed strongly, finishing third and fourth respectively. Albany took second place with 52 points, followed by Fairfield and Siena.

In the men's competition, Siena placed second overall with 52 points in the 6K race. Evan Wattie led the Siena men with a fourth-place finish (19:49.8), supported by Jake Passalugo in sixth and Noah Johnson in seventh. The Siena women's team finished fourth in the 5K event with 75 points, led by freshman Ciara Clinton, who placed ninth (19:12.8).
