Maritana Minerals secures final approvals for Western Australia gold hub
Maritana Minerals has secured the final statutory approval required to develop its Black Swan gold processing hub in Western Australia. The grant of a Native Vegetation Clearing Permit (NVCP) by the state's Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety allows the company to proceed with earthworks and construction for the 2.5-million-tonne-per-annum facility.
The hub, located approximately 50km northeast of Kalgoorlie, is central to Maritana’s strategy to become a standalone producer of roughly 100,000 ounces of gold per year. The company aims to produce its first gold from the facility in the second half of 2027.
To maintain construction momentum, Maritana has extended its early works agreement with GR Engineering Services until October 2027. This extension includes an additional A$6.5 million in committed expenditure, bringing the total commitment to A$31.5 million. This ensures continuity in engineering, procurement, and site delivery while the full engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract is finalized.
