Maritime accidents reported near Dugi Otok, Croatia
Two separate maritime incidents occurred near Dugi Otok, Croatia, involving stranded and colliding vessels.
On the night of August 10, a boat ran aground near Cape Oključić on the northwestern side of Dugi Otok. The Zadar Port Authority responded to the emergency, evacuating a four-person crew to Veli Rat. Two individuals received treatment for minor injuries, and the vessel was left at the site to be disposed of at the owner's expense. No environmental pollution was reported.
In a separate incident on August 12, a 15-meter yacht operated by Slovenian citizens collided with a fish farm cage between Cape Gubac and Cape Žman. The skipper and one passenger were uninjured. Authorities from Sali and Zadar inspected the site and confirmed no marine pollution resulted from the collision. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
