Maritime emergencies result in rescues in Mexico and a fatality in Spain

Two separate maritime incidents involving swimmers have been reported in Mexico and Spain.

In Altamira, Tamaulipas, emergency responders including the Navy, Civil Protection, and lifeguards rescued two tourists from San Luis Potosí. The individuals, a 25-year-old man and a 16-year-old, were swept away by waves in a restricted area near Velamar. Both were evaluated and found to have no significant injuries. Authorities noted that the area is unsafe for swimming due to recent dangerous wave conditions.

In Gran Canaria, Spain, a 14-year-old boy died after drowning in the Amadores Hollow. The incident occurred when waves caught a group of young people off guard. While maritime rescue teams successfully saved two other minors who were also swept away, the teenager was recovered from underwater by a rescue helicopter and pronounced dead by medical personnel upon arrival at the surface.
