Maritime rescue in Sweden and boat motor thefts in Finland

In Sweden, the RS Storsjön rescue station conducted a preventive mission on a Saturday evening after a member reported a cooling system leak in a ten-meter steel boat. The engine had overheated, leaving two people and a dog on board. Although the wind was weak and the vessel was not drifting significantly, the crew of the Rescue Inger Öberg responded to the call and provided a tow to bring the vessel safely to a shipyard.

In Finland, a series of boat motor thefts has been reported in Barösund. Thieves targeted a boat mooring, towing away five boats to cut off their motors before leaving the vessels to drift. One local business owner reported the loss of two workboat motors, valued at approximately 10,000 euros each. Similar thefts have recently been noted in Ingå and Raseborg, prompting discussions regarding the need for increased camera surveillance in the archipelago.
