Maritime sector sees new joint venture and major vessel orders

The InterMaritime Group and Hamburg-based Carsten Rehder have formed a joint venture to expand their presence in Germany and Northern Europe. The partnership involves the creation of InterMaritime Shipmanagement GmbH & Co KG, which will serve as the sole shareholder of Victoria Marine Ship Management GmbH & Co KG. The new entity will provide full technical management for approximately 20 vessels and crew management services for additional ships. The venture is led by Tim Lissow and Sven Kruse.

In a separate maritime development, Höegh Autoliners has signed an agreement with China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu) to build six additional Aurora class Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTCs). Scheduled for delivery between 2029 and 2031, these vessels will feature dual-fuel LNG propulsion and are designed to be ammonia- and methanol-ready to facilitate future conversion to zero-carbon fuels. The design aims to reduce carbon emissions per car by up to 58% compared to conventional vessels.
