Maritime updates in Procida and Tremiti Islands
In Procida, the Maritime District Office has been formally authorized by the Campania Maritime Directorate and the Naples Port Authority to manage biennial medical visits and professional logbook annotations for local resident seafarers. This administrative change allows mariners to complete these essential procedures locally, eliminating the need to travel to Naples and reducing costs and time for the island's maritime community.
Separately, in the Tremiti Islands, a coordinated environmental operation led by the Park Authority and the Coast Guard successfully cleared debris from the seabed. Specialized divers recovered discarded fishing nets, 15 tires, a truck battery, and various glass, metal, and plastic waste. The intervention aims to protect local marine ecosystems, including Posidonia oceanica meadows and rocky habitats, from the threats posed by abandoned materials.
