Maritsa volleyball club adds two homegrown talents to senior squad

Bulgarian club VC Maritsa (Plovdiv) announced that two products of its own academy will join the women’s first team for the 2026‑27 season. Middle blocker Kateryna Popova, born 2 March 2009, progressed through every youth level, winning multiple national titles and an MVP award at the U18 finals, and will wear jersey number 11 in the Champions League, the Demax league and the Bulgarian Cup.

Libero Maria‑Magdalena Nedyalkova, born 17 October 2008, also rose through Maritsa’s school, collecting Bulgarian championships at U16, U18 and U20, individual best‑libero honors and a European U18 title with the national team. She will join the senior squad wearing number 3 and compete in the same three competitions.

Both players have represented Bulgaria at various age‑group levels, earning medals at Balkan and World events, and their promotion underscores Maritsa’s commitment to developing local talent for elite competition.
