Marius Borg Høiby appoints new defense team for upcoming appeal

Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Norwegian Queen Mette-Marit, has appointed a new legal defense team ahead of his upcoming appeal process. Alexander Greaker and Daniel Storrvik will replace his previous lawyers, Ellen Holager Andenæs and Petar Sekulic.

This marks the third change in Høiby's legal representation since investigations began in August 2024. The new defense team intends to implement a different strategy, which includes conducting their own evidence collection and presenting new witnesses to provide a fresh perspective on the case.

The appeal, scheduled to begin on February 9, 2027, at the Borgarting Court of Appeal, will re-examine several key aspects of his June conviction. These include the guilt regarding two counts of rape, allegations of domestic violence against a former partner, and the four-year prison sentence originally handed down by the Oslo District Court.

While the defense seeks to overturn or reduce the sentence, one of the victims, Linni Meister, has expressed distress over the decision to retry the case, noting the emotional difficulty of reliving the events.
