Norwegian Crown Princess' Son Marius Borg Høiby Remains Detained Amid Mother's Critical Illness

Marius Borg Høiby, 29, the son of Crown Princess Mette‑Marit of Norway, has been held in pre‑trial detention since early February 2026 on 40 charges that include sexual assault, violence against a former partner and other alleged crimes. The court case is scheduled for a verdict on 15 June, with prosecutors seeking a sentence of more than seven years.

Høiby has repeatedly asked the Oslo District Court to be released so he can be with his mother, who suffers severe lung fibrosis and is now on the national transplant list.
