Marius Borg Høiby Remains in Custody as He Is Hospitalized Ahead of Sentencing

Marius Borg Høiby, the eldest son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette‑Marit, continues to be held in pre‑trial detention. A court rejected his request to leave custody temporarily or to serve the preventive detention under house arrest, citing a high risk of reoffending and contact with alleged victims. His mother’s serious lung disease, chronic fibrosis requiring a transplant, was cited by his lawyers as a reason for release, but the request was denied.

Days before the District Court in Oslo is scheduled to announce the verdict on Monday, 15 June, Høiby was transferred from the Oslo prison to a hospital in eastern Norway for an overnight stay under medical supervision.
