Marius Borg Høiby remains in house arrest at Skaugum

Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Norway’s Queen Mette-Marit, has decided to remain in pretrial detention under electronic monitoring at Skaugum. His legal team stated that Høiby considers the conditions proposed by police for his release to be “unreasonable.”

Rather than contesting the conditions in court, Høiby will continue his current arrangement of house arrest with an electronic ankle monitor for at least another four weeks. During this period, he intends to seek new employment.

Høiby was previously sentenced by the Oslo District Court to four years in prison for offenses including two counts of rape and domestic abuse. He has appealed the verdict, with the appeal hearing scheduled for February 9, 2027. He is currently participating in a police-led program aimed at preventing violence in intimate relationships and is subject to regular drug testing.
