Marius Borg Høiby Sent to Ila Prison in Norway

Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has been transferred to the Ila prison facility in Bærum after receiving a four‑year sentence. Former and current inmates describe the environment as considerably harsher than the detention centre he previously stayed in in Oslo, noting that his royal lineage offers no special privileges and that he will start at the bottom of the prison hierarchy.

His legal team visited the prison and Høiby intends to appeal the verdict, seeking acquittal of the rape allegations. Family visits will now occur under stricter conditions, and a recent request for his release was denied while the appeal proceeds.
