Marius Borg Høiby sentenced to four years in Norway

Marius Borg Høiby, the 29‑year‑old son of Norway's Crown Princess Mette‑Marit, was convicted on 15 June 2026 by the Oslo District Court of multiple offenses, including assault of his ex‑girlfriend Nora Haukland and two counts of sleeping‑partner rape. He received a four‑year prison term, a restraining order and a fine.

Following the verdict, Crown Prince Haakon cancelled several official engagements, citing the deteriorating health of Crown Princess Mette‑Marit, who is awaiting a lung‑transplant. The royal household issued a brief statement declining comment on the court case.

Haukland later posted a personal statement on social media, describing the lasting trauma of the abuse and highlighting that one in five women in Norway experience domestic violence. She urged greater awareness and support for victims.
