Marius Borg Høiby’s Appeal for Home Detention Rejected, He Criticises Prison Conditions

The Borgarting Court of Appeal in Norway dismissed Marius Borg Høiby’s request to serve the remainder of his pre‑trial detention under an electronic ankle bracelet at his family’s home. Høiby, a 29‑year‑old son of Crown Princess Mette‑Marit, remains in custody in Oslo pending trial on roughly 40 alleged offences.

He publicly complained about his detention conditions, writing that "it is so absurd and unjust, I lack words to express my frustration" and accusing the authorities of unfair treatment. The rejection of his appeal means he will continue to be held in a detention facility rather than under home monitoring.
