Marius Lulea disputes removal from Alliance for the Union of Romanians
A leadership dispute has emerged within the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) regarding the membership status of founding member Marius Lulea. Senior party figure Dan Dungaciu claimed that Lulea is no longer a member of the party, characterizing dissenting voices within the organization as external influences attempting to create division.
Marius Lulea has rejected these assertions, maintaining that he remains a member and describing any unannounced removal as illegal. Lulea, who served as the party's initial president, emphasized that his criticisms regarding the party's leadership and strategic direction are protected under the Romanian Constitution.
Legal arguments have been raised suggesting that if Lulea's removal is based solely on his expression of differing political opinions or critiques of leadership, it would violate Article 30 of the Romanian Constitution, which guarantees the inviolability of freedom of expression. Supporters of the legal argument note that political pluralism is a fundamental requirement for constitutional democracy.
