Mariusz Kasperski appointed auxiliary bishop of Toamasina

Pope Francis has appointed Mariusz Kasperski, a Polish Oblate missionary, as the auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Toamasina in Madagascar. Kasperski will also hold the titular see of Burca.

Born in Wolsztyn, Poland, Kasperski has served as a missionary in Madagascar since 1995. His extensive service in the region includes roles as a parish priest, director of the OMI pre-novitiate, and Superior of the OMI Delegation in Madagascar from 2015 to 2022. Most recently, he served as the superior of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate community in Toamasina and parish priest of Saint Eugenius de Mazenod Parish.

The Archdiocese of Toamasina covers approximately 23,690 square kilometers and serves a Catholic population that represents about one-third of its residents.
