Monolith Films founders Mariusz Łukomski and Ryszard Pawlicki pass away
The Polish film industry is mourning the loss of two key figures, Mariusz Łukomski and Ryszard Pawlicki. Monolith Films described the pair as the “pillars” of the company.
Mariusz Łukomski was the founder and long-time president of Monolith Films and a member of the Polish Film Institute Council. Recognized as a pioneer of independent distribution in Poland after 1989, he was instrumental in bringing international cinema to Polish theaters and producing domestic films such as “Kamienie na szaniec” and “Różyczka”.
Ryszard Pawlicki was a highly regarded film distribution specialist who spent decades helping to shape the Polish cinema market. The Polish Film Institute expressed deep sadness over their passing, noting their significant impact on the professionalization of the national audiovisual industry.
