Marjan Šarec criticizes RTCG leadership situation in Montenegro

Marjan Šarec, the European Parliament's permanent rapporteur for Montenegro, has criticized the situation surrounding the Director General of Radio-televizija Crne Gore (RTCG), Boris Raonić. Šarec stated that Raonić remains in his position following legislative changes, despite previous final legal decisions that had barred him from the role. He remarked that such a situation leaves a bad impression and is unfair to the state and the public.

Addressing the broader media landscape in Montenegro, Šarec noted that the situation is complex, citing attempts by foreign actors to influence media outlets. He described the country's path toward European Union membership as a matter of life or death for the nation.

Regarding the government's recent decision to set a four-month deadline for closing negotiation chapters, Šarec characterized the plan as ambitious but useful for driving progress. He noted that successful integration depends not only on the Montenegrin government but also on the European Commission.
