Marjane Satrapi, acclaimed Franco‑Iranian graphic novelist, passes away

Marjane Satrapi, the Franco‑Iranian author, illustrator and filmmaker best known for her autobiographical graphic novel Persépolis, died recently. Her work combined personal narrative with political commentary, shaping contemporary graphic literature and raising global awareness of the Iranian Revolution and its aftermath.

Satrapi’s final public project, a book titled “Woman, Life, Freedom,” gathered leading comic artists and intellectuals to denounce political repression in Iran.
