Marjorie Taylor Greene criticizes Pete Hegseth and MAGA movement

Former U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has criticized Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, accusing him of using religious scripture to justify the war in Iran. Greene specifically targeted Hegseth’s ‘Send Me’ tour of duty, which utilizes Biblical verses to inspire military personnel. She characterized the use of Isaiah 6:8 as a form of manipulation intended to ‘advance man’s agenda’ and ‘justify war.’

Greene’s remarks follow the resignation of her from Congress in January 2026, a move driven by escalating disagreements with President Donald Trump. She has since become a vocal critic of the administration, joining other former MAGA figures such as Representative Thomas Massie and commentator Tucker Carlson in opposing the president’s policies, including his stance on Israel and the conflict in Iran.

During a recent appearance at the Texas Tribune Festival, Greene declared that the MAGA movement is ‘dead,’ describing it as a ‘cult’ that has abandoned its original U.S.-centric priorities. She expressed support for a new political movement that aligns with an ‘America First’ agenda, suggesting that voters are seeking an alternative to the current two-party establishment.
