Mark Cucurella joins Real Madrid from Barcelona

English left‑back Mark Cucurella completed a transfer from Barcelona to Real Madrid after an exceptionally rapid negotiation lasting about a day and a half. The deal, reported at £47.5 million fixed with £4.3 million in bonuses, includes a six‑year contract that runs into the early 2030s.

Cucurella said the move happened “very fast” and that he had no doubts when Real Madrid called, describing the club as a “unique opportunity”. He noted the influence of coach José Mourinho, who personally urged him to join. The player, a former Barcelona academy graduate who later played for Chelsea and earned caps for England, will provide Real Madrid with an experienced left‑back as they reinforce their defence ahead of the new season.
