Mark Dittli appointed new editor-in-chief of NZZ
Mark Dittli will become the new editor-in-chief of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ) effective February 1, 2027. He succeeds Eric Gujer, who is transitioning to a newly created role as Publisher for Germany after twelve years in the editor-in-chief position.
Dittli, who currently serves as the managing director and editor of the digital finance magazine ‘The Market’, brings over 25 years of journalistic experience. The NZZ Board of Directors noted that the selection process accounted for fundamental shifts in journalism caused by artificial intelligence and changing consumer habits.
Isabelle Welton, President of the NZZ Board of Directors, stated that Dittli represents analytical, independent journalism with a clear liberal stance. CEO Felix Graf added that the leadership aims to leverage new technologies to strengthen the publication's quality journalism within a rapidly changing media environment.
