Mark English wins historic European gold in 800m
Mark English made history at the European Athletics Championships by becoming the first Irish male athlete to win a gold medal at the event. Competing in the men’s 800m, English clocked a time of 1’45″26, overtaking Croatia’s Marino Bloudek to secure the title.
Irish sprinter Rhasidat Adeleke also achieved success, earning a silver medal in the women’s 200m with a time of 22″28. She finished narrowly ahead of Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith.
