Mark Harmon returns to NCIS: Origins in season 3

Mark Harmon is set to return to the NCIS franchise in a significant capacity for the third season of the prequel series, NCIS: Origins. Unlike previous guest appearances, Harmon will appear in every episode, portraying an older version of Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

The series will utilize two distinct timelines: one following the younger Gibbs in the 1990s, played by Austin Stowell, and another set in the present day featuring the older Gibbs living in Alaska.

A recently released promotional video has generated significant interest by showing an older Gibbs being shot by two masked individuals at his home in Alaska. The footage suggests that past conflicts, potentially involving a figure named Lala Dominguez or events from Camp Pendleton, are resurfacing to disrupt his life in the present. It remains unclear if the shooting is a literal event or a narrative device representing a memory or dream.
