Mark Hutchings' partner dies two days after giving birth
Former West Coast Eagles player Mark Hutchings has announced the sudden death of his partner, Hannah Camplin, just two days after the birth of their daughter, Sofia. Hutchings, 35, shared the news on social media, describing himself as “shattered” and noting that becoming a mother had been a significant dream for Camplin.
New details indicate that Camplin, 36, suffered a cardiac arrest in the hospital on September 9. While her pregnancy and birth were described as straightforward, an investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause of death. Her sister, Lucy Heke, stated that the initial investigation was inconclusive and noted that it could take up to a year to reach a full conclusion.
The Australian Football League community has responded with a massive outpouring of support. Former teammates and colleagues, including Jack Darling, Nic Naitanui, and Abbey Holmes, have offered condolences and strength to Hutchings and his newborn daughter.
