Mark Mitchell returns to Missouri after Kentucky commitment reversal
Forward Mark Mitchell has decided to re-enroll at the University of Missouri for the 2026-27 season, reversing a recent commitment to the University of Kentucky. The decision follows complications regarding SEC intra-conference transfer rules.
Mitchell, who earned All-SEC honors last season with an average of 18.3 points per game, gained a fifth year of eligibility following a federal court ruling. While he had previously reached a tentative Exhibit 10 agreement with the Denver Nuggets, he did not sign a professional contract, allowing him to maintain collegiate eligibility.
The shift comes after the SEC announced it would enforce regulations preventing players from transferring to another conference school outside of the approved spring window. To avoid a protracted legal battle over these regulations, Mitchell opted to return to Missouri rather than join Kentucky.
