Mark Rothko exhibition nears conclusion at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence
The Mark Rothko exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence is entering its final days, scheduled to close on August 23. The exhibition, which is expected to attract approximately 250,000 visitors, showcases some of the artist's most famous works.
Curated by Elena Geuna and the artist's son, Christopher Rothko, the exhibition explores the spatial dimension of the paintings. Christopher Rothko noted that his father's work was focused on creating “credible places in which it is possible to enter,” moving beyond mere reflections on color to create immersive experiences.
Arturo Galansino, director of Palazzo Strozzi, stated that Rothko redefined 20th-century painting and that the exhibition offers a unique encounter between his works and the public.
