Mark Ruffalo receives support from 184 Jewish artists after Paramount accusations

A group of 184 Jewish artists and scientists have signed a letter expressing full support for actor Mark Ruffalo following accusations of antisemitism from Paramount. The signatories, which include Joaquin Phoenix, Jonathan Glazer, and Naomi Klein, describe the allegations against Ruffalo as ‘baseless’.

The controversy stems from Ruffalo’s social media comments regarding the potential merger between Paramount and Warner Bros. In his posts, Ruffalo criticized the deal’s impact on Hollywood and accused the Ellison family of complicity in the ‘genocide’ of Palestinians, citing a system of oppression bolstered by Oracle technology. He specifically highlighted Oracle’s ties to the Israeli military.

Ruffalo has responded to Paramount’s accusations, calling them ‘appalling and fundamentally dishonest’. He stated that criticizing the actions of the Israeli prime minister, military technology contracts, or the executives who supply them is not equivalent to criticizing the Jewish people.
