Mark Van Crombrugge opens Vermeer reconstruction exhibition in Zottegem

Artist Mark Van Crombrugge has opened ‘Vermeer – The Complete Oeuvre’ at the Contemporary Art Space CAS in Zottegem, Belgium. The exhibition features 36 full-scale oil painting reconstructions of works by Johannes Vermeer.

Van Crombrugge spent over five years creating the series, intentionally omitting signs of aging such as yellowed varnish or cracks to depict how the original compositions may have appeared. The works emphasize the master's use of light and vibrant colors, specifically ultramarine blue and bright yellow.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Mayor Evelien De Both and is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays from 14:00 to 18:00 until November 1.
