Mark Wahlberg reflects on September 11 near miss
Actor Mark Wahlberg has shared a solemn tribute on the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, reflecting on his narrow escape from the tragedy. Wahlberg was originally scheduled to be aboard American Airlines Flight 11, which departed from Boston’s Logan Airport and crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center, killing all 92 people on board.
Wahlberg avoided the flight due to a sudden change in plans that resulted in him traveling to Toronto instead of Los Angeles. In a social media post featuring an American flag, the actor described the anniversary as a “gut punch of emotions” and noted that “words just can’t say it all.”
The actor has previously addressed the incident, including a 2012 interview where he faced criticism for speculating on how he might have reacted had he been on the plane. He subsequently apologized to the victims' families, calling his previous comments irresponsible.
