Mark Zuckerberg purchases historic Strancally Castle in Ireland
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, have acquired Strancally Castle, a historic Gothic Revival estate located in County Waterford, Ireland. The property sits on approximately 178 hectares (440 acres) of land along the River Blackwater.
While the exact purchase price remains undisclosed, media reports estimate the transaction value to be between €20 million and €35 million. The estate, originally built around 1830 for former British parliamentarian John Keely, features a three-story stone structure and includes a private pier.
A spokesperson for the couple confirmed the acquisition, stating the family intends to use the castle as a base during visits to Ireland, where Meta maintains its international headquarters in Dublin. The previous owners, Michael and Giancarla Alen-Buckley of the investment firm RAB Capital, expressed support for the couple’s commitment to maintaining and enhancing the historic property.
