Mark Zuckerberg buys 440-acre Strancally Castle estate in Ireland

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, have purchased Strancally Castle, a historic 200-year-old estate located in County Waterford, Ireland. The property spans approximately 440 acres (178 hectares) in the Blackwater Valley and features 11 bedrooms and a swimming pool.

While the exact purchase price was not disclosed, estimates from The Irish Times place the value of the Gothic residence between €20 million and €30 million (approximately $35 million). A spokesperson for Zuckerberg confirmed the acquisition, stating that the family is “excited to continue caring for this historic home” and looks forward to spending time in Ireland, which serves as the international headquarters for Meta.

The estate was previously owned by Michael Alen-Buckley and his wife Giancarla, who spent 25 years restoring the property. The former owners expressed satisfaction that the new owners intend to continue investing in the maintenance and improvement of the historic building and its surrounding grounds.
