Mark Zuckerberg donates €150,000 to Waterford GAA clubs
Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan have donated €150,000 to three local Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) clubs in Waterford, Ireland. The donation will be distributed as €50,000 to each of the three clubs over a two-year period, with €25,000 provided annually.
The beneficiaries are Shamrocks GAA in Knockanore, Tallow GAA in Tallow, and Lismore GAA in Lismore. These clubs are located near Strancally Castle, the couple’s new residence. A spokesperson stated that the donation was intended to support the significant role the GAA plays in local Irish communities as the couple becomes members of the Waterford area.
Club representatives, including Shamrocks GAA secretary Tim Lenehan, expressed gratitude, noting that the funds will significantly aid fundraising efforts and the development of local sports facilities and programs.
