Mark Zuckerberg purchases Strancally Castle in Ireland

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, have purchased Strancally Castle, a 196-year-old neo-Gothic estate located in County Waterford, Ireland. While the exact purchase price was not disclosed in public records, estimates from The Irish Times suggest the property is valued between €20 million and €30 million.

The estate spans approximately 178 hectares (440 acres) along the banks of the River Blackwater. The three-story residence features 11 main bedrooms and roughly 1,486 square meters of living space. The property was originally built around 1830 and has undergone significant restoration over the last two decades by previous owners.

A representative for Zuckerberg stated that the castle will serve as a European base for the family, though they are not expected to reside there permanently. This acquisition follows a trend of high-net-worth individuals purchasing historic Irish estates, such as British inventor James Dyson’s recent purchase of Ballynatray House.
