Mark Zuckerberg buys Strancally Castle in Ireland

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, have purchased Strancally Castle, a historic 19th-century Gothic Revival estate located in County Waterford, Ireland. The property, situated along the Blackwater River, includes approximately 440 acres of land and features a three-story stone building originally constructed around 1827.

The transaction was an off-market deal completed recently from previous owners Michael and Giancarla Alen-Buckley. While the official purchase price has not been disclosed in the Irish state property price register, media reports, including those from The Irish Times, estimate the value of the estate to be between €20 million and €30 million.

A spokesperson for Zuckerberg stated that the family is “excited to continue caring for this historic home and look forward to spending time in Ireland,” where Meta maintains its international headquarters. The couple will continue to reside primarily in the United States, using the castle as a base during business trips to Ireland. Meta currently employs approximately 1,500 people in the country, with major operations in Dublin and Cork.
