S&P 500 outlook split between year-end rally and AI bubble crash warnings

Market analysts are divided on the future trajectory of global stock markets, specifically regarding the S&P 500 and the sustainability of the artificial intelligence boom.

David Spika, Chief Market Strategist at Turtle Creek Wealth Advisors, suggests a potential year-end rally of five to ten percent for the S&P 500. This outlook depends on falling oil prices and declining interest rates, which would reduce inflationary pressure and lower long-term borrowing costs.

Conversely, Joachim Klement of Panmure Liberum warns of a significant market crash by 2027 or 2028. He argues that the AI bubble could burst as hyperscalers exhaust their free cash flows and rising credit costs make continued massive infrastructure investments unaffordable. Klement predicts the S&P 500 could drop to 5,000 points, representing a 36 percent decline from current levels.

Other market perspectives note that while semiconductor and memory chip sectors remain dynamic, the combination of rising bond yields and potential overcapacity in AI infrastructure poses a risk to highly valued technology stocks.
