Markgröningen police to deploy drones for Schäferlauf festival
The Ludwigsburg Police Headquarters will deploy specialized drones to monitor the Schäferlauf festival parades in Markgröningen on Saturday, August 29, and Sunday, August 30. The aerial surveillance aims to provide officials with a comprehensive overview of visitor flows, traffic conditions, and potentially hard-to-reach areas to identify hazards early and deploy emergency services quickly.
Police stated that drones will not be flown directly over crowds. To protect privacy, overview images will generally not be recorded, and individuals will not be identifiable unless required for the investigation of a specific crime.
A temporary no-fly zone for private drones will be in effect on both festival days from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The restricted area extends from the Leudelsbach sewage treatment plant in the north, to the Markgröningen station in the east, the Steinbuch area in the south, and the Untere Mühle in the west.
