Marko Perković Thompson celebrates 60th birthday

Croatian singer Marko Perković Thompson is celebrating his 60th birthday. Born and raised in Čavoglave, Perković worked as a waiter in Split before joining the National Guard at the start of the Homeland War.

In reflections on his upbringing, the singer credited his grandfather as the central authority figure who maintained family unity while his father worked in Germany to provide financial stability. Perković dedicated his song ‘Moj dida i ja’ (My Grandfather and I) to his grandfather, noting that the man's wisdom and strength helped the family navigate difficult periods.
