Marko Rakonjac signs with Israeli club Maccabi Petah Tikva
Montenegrin striker Marko Rakonjac has joined Israeli Premier League side Maccabi Petah Tikva on a one‑year contract with an option to extend for a second season. The 27‑year‑old previously played for clubs including Jedinstvo Bijelo Polje, Čukarički, Lokomotiv Moscow, Red Star Belgrade and spent the latter half of last season on loan at Hapoel Jerusalem, scoring two goals in 14 appearances.
Rakonjac said he chose the Israeli club because of the trust shown by the coach and the welcoming atmosphere of the squad. He expressed confidence that he can contribute to the team’s attacking play and help the newly promoted side secure a stable place in the top division. Maccabi Petah Tikva, which earned promotion after winning the second‑tier league, aims to play attractive football and reach the playoff spots this season.
