Marks & Spencer expands food waste partnership with Too Good To Go
Marks & Spencer is expanding its partnership with the surplus food app Too Good To Go to more than 350 stores across the UK. Following a successful trial, the retailer will offer ‘Surprise Bags’ containing unsold in-store bakery items, such as bread, pastries, and cookies.
Customers can reserve these bags via the Too Good To Go app for £3.80, representing a minimum retail value of £10. The bags are available for collection Monday through Saturday, one hour before local stores close.
This initiative is part of M&S Food’s ‘Plan A’ strategy, which aims to reduce food waste by 50% by 2030. Other waste-reduction efforts by the retailer include repurposing surplus bread into frozen garlic bread and discounting extra-ripe bananas.
