Marks & Spencer invests to lower British meat prices

Marks & Spencer has announced a new investment aimed at making selected British meat products more affordable for customers. The initiative includes price reductions for diced British beef (500g), which will drop from £7.00 to £6.00, British lamb mince (400g), reducing from £6.20 to £5.60, and British pork sausages, decreasing from £2.60 to £2.00.

Through its ‘Remarksable Value’ strategy, the retailer intends to encourage the purchase of local produce while supporting British farmers facing competition from international imports. M&S maintains that it sources 100% British beef, lamb, chicken, pork, and eggs.

The company highlighted its commitment to the agricultural sector through long-term strategic agreements, including 10-year partnerships with suppliers such as ABP and Dunbia, and a long-term relationship with Cranswick. This move is part of the retailer’s ‘Plan A for Farming’ strategy to provide stability and confidence for farmers to invest in their businesses.
