Markéta Vondroušová discusses impact of four-year tennis ban

Tennis player Markéta Vondroušová has shared details regarding the personal and professional impact of her four-year suspension imposed by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA). The sanction stems from a refusal to provide a doping sample in April, which the player attributed to an anxiety disorder and concerns over the identity of the official who arrived outside of the designated one-hour window.

Vondroušová explained that the ban extends beyond the inability to compete in tournaments. She is also prohibited from training at her tennis club, using professional facilities, or attending tournaments as a spectator.

The athlete noted that the restrictions have significantly affected her personal life and social connections. Because many of her friends and her partner are professional tennis players, she is unable to support them at events. She described the emotional difficulty of traveling to tournaments with her partner only to watch his matches from a hotel room rather than from the stands.
