German State Secretaries Markus Niggemann and Raimund Haser Appointed

Markus Niggemann, a state secretary in Brandenburg’s Ministry for Economy, Energy, Climate Protection and Europe, was appointed on 24 March 2026 as the new Poland liaison for the state. The appointment, announced by Minister‑President Dietmar Woidke, emphasizes deepening cross‑border cooperation. Within a day, Niggemann travelled with Brandenburg’s economy minister Martina Klement to the neighboring Lubuskie region in Poland, meeting officials in Zielona Góra and reviewing the local space‑technology park.

Raimund Haser, previously the CDU parliamentary group’s energy, climate and nature‑conservation expert, was sworn in as a political state secretary in Baden‑Württemberg’s Transport Ministry in late May 2026. The appointment aims to bring a broader perspective to transport policy, integrating experience from other sectors and fostering collaborative solutions across regions.

Both appointments reflect recent staffing changes in German state governments, highlighting a focus on cross‑border relations and integrated transport strategies.
