Markus Persson lists $70 million Beverly Hills mansion

Markus “Notch” Persson, the creator of Minecraft, has listed his 22,300-square-foot estate in Beverly Hills’ Trousdale Estates for $70 million. The asking price matches the amount he paid for the property in 2014, a purchase that famously outbid Jay-Z and Beyoncé.

Despite investing millions into upgrades, including a recording studio and a nightclub, Persson is seeking the original purchase price. His listing agent stated that the billionaire is not spending significant time in Los Angeles. The estate features eight bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, two swimming pools, an 18-seat theater, and a car elevator.

Persson’s decision to sell comes as several high-profile tech figures have recently reduced their ties to California amid discussions regarding a proposed state wealth tax.
