Markus Persson lists Beverly Hills mansion for $70 million
Markus “Notch” Persson, the Swedish billionaire and creator of Minecraft, has placed his Beverly Hills luxury estate on the market for $70 million. This price matches the amount he paid for the property in December 2014, shortly after selling Mojang to Microsoft for $2.5 billion.
The 22,300 square foot residence sits on one acre and features eight bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, a cinema, a pool, and a wine cellar capable of holding 2,500 bottles. Notable amenities include a $200,000 candy room, a private nightclub with a DJ booth, and a recording studio added by Persson.
While general Los Angeles real estate prices have risen significantly over the last twelve years, the ultra-luxury market has cooled. If sold at the asking price, the estate would be one of the highest-priced listings in Los Angeles County this year. The listing agent, Aaron Kirman, noted that Persson is selling the home because he spends little time in Los Angeles.
