Markus Poschner debuts as Chief Conductor of RSO Wien
Markus Poschner officially began his tenure as Chief Conductor of the Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien (RSO Wien) with a debut performance at the Konzerthaus.
The program opened with Hannah Kendall’s ‘Flower of Fire’, a 20-minute work featuring prepared harps, gongs, and a collective of harmonicas. The piece was followed by Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G Major, featuring pianist Giorgi Gigashvili, who was noted for his technical excellence and composure.
The concert concluded with Igor Stravinsky’s ‘Le Sacre du Printemps’, which Poschner conducted with precision and high tension, bringing the performance to a powerful close.
